Restore Your Smile With All-On-4 Implants

All-On-4 dental implants are full full-mouth restoration treatment that replaces a full set of upper or lower teeth using just a few strategically placed dental implants. The All-On-4 procedure places four implant posts under the gums that then have a full arch of false teeth attached to them. They are sometimes referred to as permanent dentures or implant-supported dentures, and boast many benefits compared to traditional dentures. Dr. Emma Wu specializes in this treatment and has helped countless patients with tailored dental treatments. How Do All-On-4 Dental Implants Work?

All-on-4 Dental implants are a permanent replacement for an entire arch of teeth. This often requires a patient to be missing all or at least most of their teeth, or to have significant damage to a majority of their teeth. Any remaining teeth will need to be extracted as part of the process. All-On-4 dental implants can be used to replace all of your teeth or just all of the top or bottom teeth.

The first step is a quick consultation. During that consultation, our team will take X-rays and 3D scans. These measurements help us plan the procedure and determine where the implants should be placed. Every set of all-on-4 implants is custom-designed for the patient’s unique smile. It is common to need some other treatments to prepare for the implants, including jawbone strengthening/restoration and tooth extraction.

The procedure itself requires multiple treatments and a period of healing. To begin, surgery is done to place the implants underneath the gums. Two implants are in the front of the smile, while two are back, where the molars would go. A full arch prosthesis is placed temporarily. Over the course of 3 to 6 months, your jaw heals and binds to the implants. A second surgery is scheduled to add the abutments and affix the permanent arch of teeth.

Benefits of Implant-Supported Dentures

Traditional dentures cause a variety of dental issues for patients. First and foremost, they can move. This can cause difficulty eating, speaking, and dentures can fall out during the day. Aside from these frustrating elements, dentures do not actually replace the full structure of your smile. It is common for the shape of the face to change due to the loss of tooth material above and below the gums. Full arch dental implant procedures like All-On-4 implants help maintain the structure of your smile. They are permanently fixed in place, so there is less disruption in your daily life. And they are designed to look just like real teeth.

Who is a Good Candidate For All-On-4?

What Is An All-On-X & How Can It Help You?

Not every patient is a good candidate for All-On-4 dental implants. First and foremost, you need to be missing most, if not all, of your teeth. If most of your teeth are healthy, we would likely recommend other restoration treatments, like single implants, in order to replace those teeth. You also need sufficient bone density in your jaw to support the implants. Sometimes the same afflictions that lead to tooth loss, like periodontal disease, also weaken the jawbone. Jawbone restoration is sometimes recommended to strengthen the tissue. During a consultation with our dentist, we can help you pick the right treatment plan for your specific needs based on our measurements and expertise.
